19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

The passages have been commented on at some length under Matthew 18:2–6. It is remarkable that the disciples could make the same mistake of resenting the children’s presence so quickly after the Lord had rebuked them, for it (the time element between 18:1–2 and 19:13) has been less than three months.

The word “suffer” is defined (in the AV) in Acts 21:39, so there is no need of a new translation, except for the ignorant among the seminarians who have difficulty with words. “Of such is the kingdom of heaven” again tells the reader that the doctrinal import of the passages is not little children “getting into heaven by sprinkling.” The “little children” make it to heaven by election on an automatic atonement (Rom. 4:15, 5:13, 9:11) and, thank God, do not have to worry about some rascal in a Halloween suit coming around mumbling Latin and dripping water all over them! “To come unto me” means what it says and has nothing in common with “come unto us” (meaning Reformed Christian) or “come unto church.” It is funny what a terrible time self-righteous people have with plain English in an AV!
